A randomly-generated install identifier (a UUID held in your device's preferences). This lets us rate-limit usage per install without ever linking the request to you. It is not your Apple ID, not your IDFA, and not your phone number.
The text of each question you submit. We forward it to our Cloudflare Worker, which calls Anthropic to compose the answer. The Worker briefly logs the request for abuse prevention.
Your saved reflections, journal entries, downloaded recitations, and Pro entitlement state are stored only on your device. They never leave it.
What we do not collect
No advertising or marketing identifiers. We do not implement Apple's ATT framework because we have nothing to track.
No location data leaves your device. Prayer times and qibla bearing are computed entirely on-device using the location iOS provides.
No microphone, contacts, photos, calendar, or health data.
No third-party SDKs that share data with brokers or analytics networks.
Who we share data with
Anthropic, for the sole purpose of generating the answer to your question. Anthropic processes the text under its own commercial terms.
Cloudflare, which routes the request and provides edge logging used only to detect abuse.
Nothing else, ever. We do not sell or rent data.
How long we keep your questions
Edge logs at Cloudflare auto-expire after a short retention window (currently 7 days). Our Worker caches identical prompt+context pairs for up to 30 days so repeated queries don't re-bill Anthropic — these cache entries are addressed by content hash, not by your identifier.
Your controls
Delete a reflection: swipe-to-delete in the Journal tab.
Clear downloaded recitations: About → Recitation storage → Clear.
Reset your install identifier: delete and reinstall the app. A new UUID is generated on first launch.
Disable daily reminders or prayer-time notifications: About → Reminders.
Children
Sanad is appropriate for all ages within the Sunni tradition. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, and we do not implement any age-gated features.
